Add costs to Programs and Projects

Estimate costs related to tasks or objectives, including milestone payments or CRO expenses

Written by Tara Lee

Add “Projected cost” to tasks / objectives

Use the “Projected cost” in tasks and objectives to track estimated expenses or income related to your project or program. This can help you model general back-of-the-envelope estimates for a specific activity as well as more granular estimates costs like up-front payments, milestone payments, or studies / campaigns performed by CROs.

These can ultimately be aggregated into a Model to forecast future expenses and income.

Set the projected cost for a task or an objective:

  • For a given task or objective, click into the “Projected cost” field

  • Pick a Format for the cost

    • Amortized: Divides the entered amount evenly between the start and end date

    • Schedule-based: Fixes the expense / income to a specific date (relative to the start or end date). This is most useful for milestone payments.

  • Use the “Chart of Accounts” to update the available “Accounting Categories”

Roll-up project costs

Link a sub-project to a Program objective to track more granular work or costs associated with the objective. When there is a visual indication that the costs are linked, the Model will automatically roll-up the sub-project’s costs to the program.
